Class Descriptions:
Intro to Ashtanga Yoga: An excellent starting point for beginning Ashtanga students with mild pace connecting breath and movement. Foundations of Ashtanga: sun salutations, basic standing and seated postures, inversions and back bending. Introduction to 8 limbs.
Ashtanga Improv: A unique blend of Vinyasa Yoga, utilizing the fundamentals of the Ashtanga yoga practice.
Ashtanga Yoga 1st Series: Practice the entire first series of Ashtanga Yoga, as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. For students who have taken Intro to Ashtanga and are ready to try the full 1st series.
Gentle Yoga: A gentle approach for beginners and those who wish to practice at a slower pace. Learn restorative techniques and alternative postures ideal for individuals with specific needs.
Deepening Your Practice: Anusara is based on a very refined philosophy of the 5 universal principles of alignment, which are both spiritual and physical expressions, and the 3 A’s ~ Attitude, Alignment, and Action.This class uses the principles to develop refined stamina and concentration during the asanas, so poses are held for a length of time, but yet the curviness of expression is still maintained. Those deepening their practices will gain much from this class as it will allow the practitioner to be able to be still during practice and gain insight and steadiness.Learn classical and innovative approaches to Anusara Yoga, Krishnamancharya’s teachings, the Tantric tradition of Kashmir Shaivism, Pranayama, Ayurveda, and Kirtan (mantra chant). Join the yoga community in this challenging but most importantly heart expanding class!
