Learn how to guide your breathing to a balanced state that supports optimal functioning of your mind and body. Many thoughts, emotions, and physical holding patterns can interfere with the body’s natural breathing process. Chronically restricted, shallow breathing can cause a range of emotional and physical difficulties over time (e.g., anxiety, headaches, muscle tension, poor digestion, fatigue). With properly balanced breathing, the body can function effectively and the mind can become more clear, alert, and calm. This course will help you develop both mental and physical practices to restore natural, optimal breathing.
Sessions will include meditative inquiries, gentle movement and stretching, discussion of anatomy and physiology, exploration of the mind-body connection, and application of practices to everyday life. Each session can stand alone, but attendance of all 4 sessions will provide a more complete understanding of the practices.
Cost: $30/session or $100 for all 4 sessions
Registration: Class size is limited; register online to reserve a space, www.fourseasonsyoga.com
Location: Four Seasons Yoga Studio, 7770 Regents Road (UTC area)
Preparation: No experience necessary. Wear comfortable clothes. Bring a yoga mat if you have one.
