Jenny Barrett
Introduced to yoga during college at California State University,
San Marcos, where she obtained a bachelor of science in psychology,
Jenny connected immediately to Yoga's healing benefits. While exploring
various styles of Yoga, Jenny was inspired and moved by the traditional
style and the discipline that Ashtanga Yoga had to offer. She began
her committed practice in 1997 under Tim Miller at the Ashtanga
Yoga Center in Encinitas. She has been a devoted Ashtanga practitioner
ever since. In 2004 Jenny completed a yoga instructor certification
through Tim's teacher training course in Encinitas. Jenny is thankful to all her teachers, Tim Miller, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Mary Jo Mulligan, Dena Kingsberg and all her yogi friends and mentors Shannon Thompson and Amrita Saracini.
Jenny began teaching yoga in 2000 to young women at Shakti Rising
in San Diego, California. Shakti Rising is a leading-edge organization
providing holistic, gender-specific and trauma informed services
to young women ages 15-30. She has continued to teach Ashtanga and
Vinyasa flow throughout San Diego. Jenny has come to know the many
healing and transformational benefits Yoga offers and is inspired
and determined to share this five thousand year old science with
others.
